Fair Trade

What is Fair trade?

First of all, fair trade is when producers in developing countries are paid a fair price for their work, by companies in developed countries. As a result, it helps secure the rights of marginalized producers and workers in developing countries.

Because when we pay a fair price to the producers, they can afford life’s essentials – like food, education and healthcare.

Furthermore, it is based on partnership, which means that the interests of farmers and workers are just as important as other commercial considerations. It also represents a solution to poverty and a model for development.

Due to the Principles of Fair Trade these workers have a voice to campaign for issues such as safe working conditions, non-discrimination and child labour.
